5 tips how to overcome challenges that working moms face
Pandemic has completely drifted the directions and ways in which we work. Prior to this pandemic situation, most working mothers would drop their kids at school or creche and relax for some time. The time they are at work is mostly uninterrupted. However, with the current working from home scenario working moms must deal with online classes, cooking, cleaning, and the tantrums of kids round the clock. Even with some support from other family members, moms’ roles have become extremely challenging. In this scenario, here are 5 tips to overcome few challenges that working moms face.
- Unable to get things done on a not so good day.
- We all have good and bad days. On one such bad day, with kids rushing to you for things, all you need is some sanity and reassurance. Start your workday with some very familiar tasks. Something that you can almost do even without much of conscious brain power. Once you finish those, you will gain a sense of accomplishment and this may boost your energy.
- Feeling the burn out even without doing much.
- This often happens when you have so many things to do and you are not sure where to start. Thinking of these tasks itself sometimes drains your energy mentally and you might feel burnt out. A good afternoon nap or a mid-morning nap would be very helpful on such days. This power nap can get you started all over again.
- Feeling lonely amidst the work chaos
- Brains of working moms always have lot of windows open. Though women are doing regular work, with Covid and lot of uncertainty around us, it is very common to feel lonely suddenly. As though you are shouldering a very huge responsibility without any support. A good conversation with your family, friends, colleagues, or anyone you like can instantly change your mood and make you feel good about yourself. By doing this, you are also checking one item from your list.
- There is not enough time for focusing on health
- 24 hours is never enough for most working mothers. A simple tip to overcome this challenge is to break your day into few logical compartments and in each compartment, add one self-care or health related activity. For example: If you have 3-hour time compartment, after that 3 hours make it a point to hydrate yourself and go for a small ten-minute walk. Remember that a family’s health is directly related to mom’s health.
- Feeling demotivated if you could not complete few tasks
- Being a working mom by itself means playing more than dual role. In that, if you compare yourself with your other colleagues who solely focus on work, you tend to get demotivated. Each human being is different and so are their lives. Pat yourself on back for some amazing things you have accomplished so far and drive away those negative emotions.
Keep going moms! You can do it!
