Practice Leadership, Own Your Judgement

To practice leadership, we should be mindful of situations and become self-aware about when we label people. Be it workplace or society, we label people both positively and negatively.

Does labeling someone liberates you or restricts you from becoming a great effective leader?

Have you ever been labelled by someone, and you absolutely didn’t appreciate about it? 

Isn’t it a constipated way of connecting with people?

And then people stop seeing you as you are, instead the judgmental mind starts concluding.  Always being Judgmental is a habit of conditioned mind which race in an autopilot mode, where you are not conscious about the difference between the truth and your subjective opinion. This mindset holds you back from becoming an effective leader.

What can we do to allow the mind-shift to happen?

There are 2 powerful ways you can be

  1. In the first step towards being an effective leader, I free the other person of being labelled without freeing the person from accountability. This way I practice both Empathy and Accountability. See we need both
  2. Once I free the other person, I internalize my judgment. I take the ownership and become accountable of my own judgement. I observe my judgment and shift my mind from “ He is a difficult person to deal with” to “ I am having difficulty dealing with him” 

See how subtle the mind shift is, yet very powerful. It helps creating the mind shift with less blame and any work environment with negligible blame is a great place to work with. With this little change, you open up a lot more possibilities of creative solutions
